In 2024, WWP EN rolled out its first ever LGBTQ+-focused #ResponsibleTogether campaign with the title: Love is normal. Violence is not. The campaign was dedicated to raising awareness about intimate partner violence (IPV) in LGBTQ+ relationships and increasing the communication between victims/perpetrators and support services.
In 2025, we are continuing the committment by launching our WWP EN Pride campaign under the same flagship title: Love is normal. Violence is not.
How can domestic abuse service providers effectively engage with LGBTQ+ individuals? How can organizations ensure that their services are safe, accessible, and affirming? This year, WWP EN’s Pride campaign is focused on empowering our member organizations with practical, real-life measures to meaningfully support and serve the LGBTQ+ community. Whether organizations are open to engaging with LGBTQ+ individuals or offer services tailored specifically for them, our campaign is designed to deepen understanding and strengthen inclusive practices.
The campaign underscores our collective responsibility to challenge discrimination and foster environments where all identities are respected and supported. Because love is normal. Violence is not.
LGBTQ+ individuals often face specific, under-recognised barriers when accessing domestic violence services or engaging with perpetrator programmes. These barriers are rooted in a lack of inclusive practices, language, and visibility across many support systems.
To support organisations in responding more effectively to the needs of LGBTQ+ people, WWP EN has developed two key resources: WWP EN’S LGBTQ+ inclusivity toolkit for domestic abuse service providers and a glossary of LGBTQ+ terminology.
Together, these resources reflect WWP EN’s commitment to making domestic violence work inclusive of all survivors and communities.
This toolkit provides practical steps to help domestic abuse service providers create safer, more welcoming, and inclusive environments. It offers guidance on inclusive communication, staff training, community outreach, and organisational policies—designed to support meaningful change at every level.
Part of the upcoming Dictionary of domestic violence by WWP EN, this glossary introduces key terms and definitions related to LGBTQ+ identities and relationships. Using accurate, respectful language is essential for ensuring visibility and dignity in both prevention and intervention work.
For #ResponsibleTogether2024 campaign, WWP EN developed a simple and bold visual identity combining WWP EN's logo with rainbow colours of pride. The symbolic tree, represents growth, connection, and transformation — values at the heart of our work across Europe. The rainbow version of this tree reflects WWP EN's solidarity with the LGBTQ+ communities and our committment to challenge the invisibility of violence in queer relationships. This vibrant, inclusive adaptation of our logo is more than a campaign element: it’s a meaningful visual representation of our commitment to diversity, equality, and intersectionality.
